Book brings together latest textiles technology developments

Monday 07 December 2009

International textiles technology expertise has been collated for a comprehensive new publication edited by Senior Lecturer Trevor Rowe.

Interior Textiles: Design and Developments was commissioned by Woodhead Publishing and includes chapters by experts from India, New Zealand, the US, Sweden and the UK.

The University's School of Built Environment and Engineering was approached because of its well established Interior Design programme and also because it is a UK leader in the field of textiles technology.

The book is a key text for manufacturers, designers and interior textiles buyers as well as an important new resource for students and academics in this field.

It covers the full range of issues including the variety of fabrics and finishes for different types of interiors, the latest technological developments, environmental issues and factors relating to fire legislation and flame retardant materials.

Said Trevor: 'Though there are numerous books on the creative side of interior design there aren't so many that have a technical focus. This book is important as it contains some of the latest technical developments from around the world and will be an essential read for anyone studying or working in this sector.'
