Art and Photography make splash in city
Monday 30 April 2007
University of Bolton students have art and photography shows on at two venues in Manchester.
Neo Artists is a showcase of work from 19 second-year fine art students from the University of Bolton and runs until Friday 11 May.
The installation, at Ducie House, Ducie Street, in Manchester's northern quarter, shows everything from architecture and sculpture to painting, photography, collage and ceramics.
The students have attracted extensive backing from several high profile sponsors to host the exhibition, including Bolton Wanderers Football Club, Macdonald Hotels group and Urban Splash, which has provided the venue and extended the show for an extra week.
The work is available to buy, on request, and can be viewed on the artists' online gallery, as well as at their Ducie Street showcase, at www.neoartists.co.uk.
From Here to There runs until Sunday 3 June. Students from the MA Photography course – part of the university's Paradigm ESF project – have just launched their latest exhibition at the People's History Museum in Manchester.
The photographic display results from a series of workshops led by photographer Tim Smith. The students' work has been inspired by Tim's current exhibition, The Grand Trunk Road, also showing at the Museum.
