Academics suspend industrial action

Wednesday 07 June 2006

University lecturers' union leaders have suspended industrial action, pending a ballot on an agreed pay increase negotiated with employers.

All examinations have gone ahead as planned at the University of Bolton. Marking is now taking place and the university expects that Examination Boards and the Degree Congregations in July will proceed as planned.

The industrial action was suspended from midnight on Tuesday 6 June 2006. Lecturers will be balloted on an agreed rise of 10.37per cent over 22 months, plus at least 2.5 per cent in the next year.

Any students with further inquiries should get in touch with their tutor, or the Student Centre or Students' Union.
