Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader
Garry has a wealth of engineering experience. On leaving school in 1986 Garry became a vehicle technician and thereupon was motivated towards a career in engineering. His work experience saw him engaged in engineering projects involving design, assembly and analysis. He also completed consultancy work for several automotive companies; including FEA analysis, assembly design and a number of design projects (CAD, parametric CAD). During this time Garry achieved his BEng honours degree in automotive engineering, before completing his PGCE to teach in higher education.
Garry’s career in education began in 2002 and he joined the University of Bolton in 2004. Here he has forged links with engineering companies to ensure the University's courses are designed to suit industry needs. Garry has held a number of roles at the University. Currently, he is a senior lecturer and programme leader for both Automotive Performance Engineering BEng (Hons) and Motorsport Technology BSc (Hons). His subjects are CAD, CFD, FEA, thermodynamics (engine systems), fluid mechanics/dynamics.
Garry is inspired to ensure continual improvement of the motorsport programmes and provide an outstanding learning environment that has real world content and experiences.
