Dr Zubair Hanslot
Chief Executive of the National Centre for Motorsport Engineering and Provost of the University of Bolton
Dr Hanslot was appointed as Provost in October 2011. In January 2015 he was seconded to the role of Chief Executive of the University of Bolton’s new school UTC Bolton and now heads the University of Bolton’s National Centre for Motorsport Engineering.
His previous positions include Academic Director for the University of Bolton UAE Campus in Ras al Khaimah where he spent 3 years setting up, establishing and operating a successful campus with full leadership and management responsibility. Prior to his new role as Chief Executive, Dr Hanslot worked for over 25 years in UK Higher Education undertaking teaching, scholarly and academic developments in the area of engineering mathematics working through the ranks of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Principal Lecturer and Director. Dr Hanslot is a true Boltonian having lived all his life in Bolton and has good knowledge of the education and industrial provision in the town.
Dr Hanslot also has several years of industrial experience where he worked as an Engineering Mathematician developing software for solving physical problems using numerical techniques for insurance and indemnity. He is an Engineering Mathematician and a Chartered Engineer holding undergraduate degrees of 1st class in mathematics and engineering and a postgraduate qualification in mechanics. Zubair holds the title of Doctor of Engineering from the University of Bolton.
Currently Dr Hanslot is a member of the national MENA group which is looking at international linkage between UK Universities and countries in the Middle East and North Africa. He also sits on various local committees concerning education and training.
In addition to being the strategic lead for NCME, Dr Hanslot is leading on another major project for the University of Bolton establishing a faculty of Dental Science offering dental science degrees from September 2016. The project utilises the blueprint used by him in the past in allowing students to combine academic studies with related work experience through a partnership of ‘industry in university’.
Dr Hanslot is currently a Governor of a local primary school (Ladybridge Primary School) and a member of the Court of Lancaster University.
