Green light for CAPE accreditation
Posted on Tuesday 14th March 2017
The Centre for Advanced Performance Engineering has been celebrating achieving professional body accreditation from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
The BSc (Hons) Motorsport Technlogy and BEng (Hons) Automotive Performance Engineering (Motorsport) courses have both been accredited by the IMechE for IEng and CEng respectively.
The Centre will now proudly display the IMechE logo against the courses as it already does for the undergraduate mechanical engineering degree courses.
IMechE, founded in 1847, is an independent engineering society that represents more than 100,000 mechanical engineers. Working with leading companies, universities and think tanks, IMechE creates and shares knowledge to provide innovative and accurate guidance on all aspects of mechanical engineering.
For students the award means when they graduate they will have satisfied the Institute that their academic knowledge and their ability to apply theory partly fulfils the requirements of Chartered Engineer. Completing an accredited course is often an essential criteria of graduate employers. Once students enter the professional workplace they can go on to add further study and experience as they work towards Chartered Status.
