Students celebrate diversity

University of Bolton staff and students celebrated Diversity Day with a packed programme of events.

A host of festivities took place including live music, dance and stalls all showcasing the rich cultural world of the University and its communities.

The student-led event formed part of Hate Crime Awareness Week and took place in the Social Learning Zone.

‘Diversity Day is a celebration of the different cultures and backgrounds students at the University of Bolton come from,’ Aiysha Khan, Third year Youth & Community Work student who organised the event.

‘We have a lot of students from unique cultures around the world and today is a way of acknowledging and embracing this.’

Stands at the event included henna tattoos, Arabic calligraphy and the sampling of different teas from around the world. There was also an international fashion show and a Bollywood dance performance.

Students' Union President, Vivienne Newton said: ‘It’s fantastic to see a student-organised event attended and supported by such a wide range of students.’
