Annual Learning and Teaching (ALT) Staff Conference 2012
Enhancing the Student Experience: innovative delivery and assessment
Thursday 5 July 2012
9:00-5:00pm
Deane Campus, University of Bolton
It is hoped that this years conference will provide a forum to hear how colleagues are planning to enhance the student experience by changing the way they engage with students, both in the physical and virtual classroom and in all other support we provide, to ensure that students are at the heart of the system. It will also be an opportunity to hear/share some interesting ways that formative assessment is used to redifine the learning experience.

The University 's 2011 Annual Learning and Teaching Staff Conference took place at the University of Bolton.
The theme was 'Student Voice: Student Engagement'. The conference explored what students said about their learning experience at the University of Bolton and shared ways in which we can involve and collaborate with students to provide opportunities for students to shape and design their own learning.

The University of Bolton held its first International Learning and Teaching Staff Conference at the Ras Al Khaimah campus on Monday 9 May 2011.
Over 80 delegates attended the conference with staff and student delegates from both the UK campus and Ras Al Khaimah campus.
The conference was opened by HH Sheikh Dr Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates.
The keynote presentation, 'Changing pedagogy for changing teaching and learning contexts' was delivered by Dr Janette Ryan, Director of the Teaching International Students project, Higher Education Academy, UK.
We offered 15 conference workshops led by colleagues from both the UK and Ras Al Khaimah conference.
The event provided opportunities to:
-
share learning and teaching practice across an International setting
-
provide valuable networking opportunities for us to work together and to get to know our colleagues in Ras Al Khaimah on a face-to-face basis
-
enable a shared discovery of internationalisation of the curriculum
Zubair Hanslot, Academic Director, International Campus Operations said of the conference:
"I write on behalf of the Ras al Khaimah Campus to say a huge thank you for participating in a very successful conference. It was a very productive day and indeed through the conference we have enabled new opportunities as well as gaining good publicity of our strategic aim of international working. Wow - what a show – congratulations.
The conference spoke for itself in how we (the UK delegates) have engaged in working as a team, indeed you (the UK delegates) volunteered your time and made the effort in creating not only an excellent conference but presenting to the community of Ras Al Khaimah and Bolton what we can do through collaborative working. Excellent."
The Conference attracted UAE newspaper publicity. Please see the newspaper articles at: http://www.rakinfo.ae/news/content/rak-ruler-opens-international-learning-and-teaching-staff-conference-university-bolton-rak|
