• You must have a valid University of Bolton Student ID card when you wish to borrow a laptop.
  • Laptops may only be used in the Library and the Social Learning Zone.
  • You may only have one laptop on loan at any one time and the loan is not transferable. You are responsible for returning the correct laptop.
  • Laptops should be used in conjunction with the University’s Regulations for use of Computer Facilities
  • You must ensure that the laptop is in your possession at all times – do NOT leave the laptop unattended.
  • If there is an evacuation of the building, for example a fire evacuation, then the laptop must be returned to the building as soon as it is reopened.
  • You are liable for the cost of replacing the laptop if it is damaged, lost or stolen.
  • You must report any theft to the IT Support Desk and provide a crime number if the laptop is stolen.
  • You must report any problems with the laptop when returning it
  • The laptop will be checked by staff on return for any loss or damage.
  • Remember to save your work regularly to your M: drive or to a USB pen drive.
  • The University cannot be held responsible for damage to files or data loss incurred whilst using the laptop.
  • The University assumes no responsibility for files stored on the hard drive or for the recovery of files accidentally left on the hard drive after the laptop has been returned.
  • The University will not be responsible for any personal media returned with the laptop by mistake.
  • If you return the laptop after the end of your 3 hour loan period then there will be a fine of £5 per hour or part of an hour.
  • If the laptop is not returned within one week then you will be invoiced for the replacement cost of the laptop.
