Brief introduction of research: (for PhD only)
My research focuses on progress towards the development of molecular-level fibres displaying auxetic (negative Poisson's ratio) behaviour - in other words, fibres which expand widthwise when stretched due to structural features at the molecular- or nano- scale. In this PhD project, molecular modelling software (Accelrys Inc) and analytical modelling techniques are used to model structure-property relationships of auxetic materials at the atomistic and molecular level.
