Developing participants' knowledge and skills of fundamental aspects of factors governing mechanical and physical properties.
Acquiring critical understanding of the methods by which properties of textile materials are characterised and measured.
Applying the understanding and acquired knowledge to specific application areas where fibre fundamental properties are governing factors

2.    Technical Textiles

Description and Purpose of Module

Gaining a critical understanding of the principals of textile science and technology to provide solutions to technological problems in general and selected problems in depth.
Developing participants' knowledge and skills of the application areas in which a technical textile may be utilised.
Acquiring critical understanding of the methods by which the properties of a technical textile may be characterised and measured.
Applying the understanding and knowledge developed into the identification and characterisation of a problem and the successful specification of a textile product which may be used to solve the problem.

Developing participants' knowledge and skills required for designing new medical devices and processes and for careers in the textile supply chain in research laboratories, in government agencies and in higher education.
Acquiring a critical understanding of advanced skills in medical products design and development.
Applying knowledge and expertise in teaching, research and product developments.
