Psychology Research

The Psychology Research Team in the School of Health and Social Sciences, led by Rob Ranyard || (Professor of Psychology) with John Charlton (Research Fellow) as deputy, conducts research on a number of theoretical and applied topics. Psychology was one of eight areas submitted to the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) by the University of Bolton that reached the 3* rating, which means 'quality that is internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigour'. Areas of current research included: economic psychology and decision research; computing, cyberpsychology and e-learning; applied psychology (focusing on mental and physical health and disability); and developmental psychology.

The Psychology Research Team aims to contribute to a supportive research environment for all academic staff in the School of Health and Social Sciences and to contribute to the training of the School's research students, for example via the MRes Psychology taught programme introduced in October 2008. Current areas of research and coodinators within the team are as follows.
