Work Placements

Are work placement options available?

The second year of some courses include an optional module called Work Placement. A member of staff is dedicated to managing the provision and a database of companies who are interested in offering placements. Some organisations want to select from a number of candidates, so there is competition and you will have to be prepared to attend for interview and sell yourself. For this reason we cannot guarantee a work placement. However, if you can seek out an opportunity to work, we will support you and you can gain academic credits this way. In other words, you can undertake work placement as a module in place of something else.

Do you provide workshops to help with interviews?

Yes. Within the university there is a careers section within the Student Centre a person is responsible for developing interviewing skills, CV writing skills and communications skills. We also have modules within the programme which will address these needs as well. In fact from level 1 you start to develop your presentation and communications skills, which help you to manage your time and communicate with others and also address the needs of interviewing.
