How many credits do I need to finish with an HND and a degree?

Progression and success in your studies is governed by the Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS).The course is broken down into units, known as modules, each of which has a credit value which is awarded to successful students.

360 credits at appropriate levels are required for the Honours Degree.
240 credits at appropriate levels are required for the Higher National Diplomas.

How many credits do I need to do in a semester as a Full-Time student?

50 credits and above is full-time.

Can they do more than 60 in one semester (to accommodate resits)?

Under the Institute Modular Scheme, although it is normal to study for 60 credits per semester, it is permissible by prior approval from the Course Leader to study for 80 credits during a semester.

Students would therefore need to allocate approximately 50 hours per week for study and assessment for the duration of such a semester.Courses cannot be completed early in this way.
