Technical Requirements for Accessing Electronic Resources
Most electronic resources work well with major browsers. However, we are aware of some issues with certain browsers and operating systems. Where we are aware of these issues the description for the affected resource includes this information. In line with the support offered by the University of Bolton, Internet Explorer is generally recommended; Firefox should also not pose any problems with accessing resources.
We are aware that Mac users in particular may experience problems in accessing electronic resources via Safari; Chrome and Opera have not been widely tested. Therefore, Mac users may wish to use Firefox to access resources.
Firewalls and security settings may restrict access to electronic resources. In the case of any difficulties, it may be worth experimenting with such settings to enable access. However, do remember to return to your original settings to prevent your any compromise of your computers's security.
Workplace security settings can also present difficulties in accessing electronic resources. If workplace settings are restricting your access in any way, you will need to speak to the IT department of your workplace.
