The University of Bolton has access to over 10,200 e-books that can be accessed via the Internet. E-book services are listed below, in the A to Z list of electronic resources and are also available through the Library Catalogue.

Credo Reference
Credo Reference features full-text content from hundreds of reference books covering a broad range of subjects. It's a search engine like Google, but instead of searching the entire Internet, your results come from a comprehensive library of trusted reference sources without advertisements, clutter, or irrelevant hits.

dawsonera
Provided by Dawson Books, dawsonera is a multi-disciplinary e-book service. To access the service, login to OpenAthens.
Access notes for dawsonera e-books
In the bottom right-hand corner of the screen are three login options. Chose the middle option for Athens login. To access University of Bolton titles, click the "eBook catalogue" tab below the dawsonera logo. Note that if you wish to print anything from dawsonera, you will need to print using the print option below the table to contents: don't print using your browser's print option as this will cause the browser to shut down.

Ebsco E-Books (formerly NetLibrary)
Ebsco e-books provide almost 7,000 full text e-books covering a wide range of subjects. Search the collection by clicking on the Ebsco e-book icon.

Login to OpenAthens. Note that there are limits to the number of people who can access an e-book at any one time. If you find you are unable to access a book for this reason, try again in around 30 minutes.

MyiLibrary
MyiLibrary provides access to a collection of over 400 titles specially selected by University of Bolton Library staff. In addition, there are over 40 key texts which are being made available as part of a national e-books usage project.
Access notes for MyiLibrary e-books
To access the service, login to OpenAthens. Off-campus, login to OpenAthens. At the bottom of the screen, you should see a line of text that says "If you are an Athens user, please click here to access the Athens Authentication Point. You should then be taken through to the service.
MyiLibrary uses special software to detect copyright breaches, so there may be rare occasions where titles are "locked" for all users and cannot be accessed. If this has happened, you will see a warning message with a time and date when access to the title will be reinstated; this date is given in the US format of MM/DD/YYYY.
If books fail to display properly, you may need to alter the settings in Adobe Reader. To do this, open Adobe Reader and go to "File" then "Preferences". In the Preferences menu, select "Internet" from the list of elements down the left-hand side. Make sure that the following options are checked: "Display in PDF browser"; "Allow fast web view"; "Allow speculative downloading in the background". Leave the connection speed at 56 Kbps.

Oxford Reference Online
The Premium Collection is a huge and comprehensive database that contains over 100 dictionaries and reference titles covering the complete subject spectrum: from General Reference, Language and Quotations to Science and Medicine, and from Humanities and Social Sciences to Business and Professional.

Taylor and Francis (now available via MyiLibrary)
The Taylor and Francis e-book collection is a collection of 180 full-text electronic books, mostly in the field of education. The collection can be searched. Note that special software called
DX Reader is required to read the books. This should be downloaded automatically without having to take any action.
