Fund-raising & Disaster Relief
Fund-raising and Disaster Relief opportunities can encompass a range of roles, from standing with a collection tin in the town centre, taking part in a "bag-pack" at a local supermarket, organising a quiz night, karaoke or other event or by becoming a marshall / helper at a major charity event such as Great Manchester Run, Manchester International Festival and Great North Swim.
You could even choose to take part in a sponsored expedition or adventure yourself, raising a minimum amount of sponsorship which will be needed to cover the cost of your participation as well as any other amount which will go direct to the cause.
Bag Packers & Fundraisers Team
You can join the UB-inVolved 'Bag Packers & Fundraisers Team' who, as the name implies, take part in charity bag-packing sessions or other fund-raising events for whichever charity asks for our help. Events are varied and can be any time of day, week or year. For example, students were involved in a number of sessions, packing bags for customers at Marks & Spencer's Middlebrook (Horwich); Sainsbury's or Morrison's in Bolton town centre in the lead-up to Christmas 2011, in aid of Bolton Hospice, raising a total of £1300 through their efforts.
All up-coming events are emailed to everyone who has expressed an interest and they can then choose whether or not they are able to take part. There is NO OBLIGATION to do any specific event or to commit to any number of events, but certificates are awarded to all those taking part with details of all they have been involved in. These are great for you CV.
If you are interested, email volunteering@bolton.ac.uk| marking your email 'Bagpackers & Fundraisers Team' in the subject box.
