Engineering
We have been delivering engineering programmes to degree level at the University of Bolton for more than 40 years and maintain excellent standards of professionalism, underpinned by our expertise and experience.
Our broad provision means that you can choose subjects within the fields of electronic engineering, mechanical engineering or automobile engineering.
Whichever programme of study you choose, you will have the opportunity to develop the vocational, practical and creative skills that will enable you to establish a professional career in the challenging and rewarding engineering sector.
Some courses have professional body accreditation leading to 'Chartered Engineer' status (CEng); the majority of the remaining courses are designed to meet the academic requirements that lead to 'Incorporated Engineer' (IEng).
Regional and national industrial companies and organisations work closely with us, collaborating in research, consultancy and product development. They also draw upon our expertise to provide training and professional updating for their employees. You benefit directly because this professional activity ensures that our courses are relevant to the industry and in step with the latest engineering developments.
Both group and individual project work will form a key element of your study. Projects generally reflect the research and consultancy work undertaken within the School and consequently are representative of genuine engineering challenges.
Lectures, seminars, tutorials, case studies and group work are underpinned by a substantial amount of practical activity that takes place within the excellent engineering facilities at the University. Our design studio provides a wide range of engineering CAD facilities to support design and creativity; our newly equipped electronics laboratories are complemented by industry-standard software for system design and simulation; and the Innovation Factory contains extensive resources that include specialist workshops and laboratories for automotive engineering, mechanical engineering and composite materials.
Class sizes are kept small, so that you learn in a friendly, yet challenging, environment that allows you to experience excellent personal contact and interaction with both the teaching staff and your fellow students.
We are committed to ensuring your learning experience is practical, enjoyable and equips you with the relevant skills and knowledge for a successful professional career in the world of engineering.
