Dr Badr is a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng, MICE) with expertise in Construction Materials. Prior to joining The University of Bolton, Atef worked as a Senior Scientist in the Materials and Structures Team at TRL, where he was actively contributing to many projects. Atef worked as a Lecturer in Construction Technology at Uclan, UK. In 2002/2003 Atef led a collaborative project between the University of Nottingham and an industrial partner to develop, test and assess an innovative flood defence system. His PhD, at the University of Leeds, was an experimental research into the performance of advanced polypropylene fibre reinforced concrete (PPFRC) & shotcrete. Atef has an ongoing interest in utilising industrial and construction waste in developing sustainable products for the construction industry. As committed professional, Dr Badr is keen to continue providing high standard services including teaching and consultancy through the application of research methods and concepts to new domains.
