Research Facilities

The engineering research groups have a suite of advanced laboratories and workshops that enable the creation and characterisation of both conventional and novel materials, including nano-, micro- and macro-composites plus the ability to test small and medium-sized structures for impact and other physical properties.

In addition, approximately £472k has been secured to improve infrastructure from SRIF and HEFCE to refurbish laboratories and to build new, dedicated research facilities, provide new equipment (eg videoextensometer, microtensile testing stage), upgrade existing equipment, and to develop a new composite testing facility.
