The engineering subject area works closely with industry, and is able to offer a range of services and facilities to support local, national and international companies.
Consultancy
Our consultants can offer a variety of services, ranging from a complete 'problem to solution' approach to specific activities such as 3D computer modelling, FEA and Simulation, Mechatronics and Control Systems. We can also offer highly experienced staff to act as expert witnesses.
All of our academic staff are highly qualified in their own fields, with many holding chartered engineer status or equivalent.
We can also offer teams of undergraduate or postgraduate students to work on specific projects under the guidance of our academic staff.
Professional Development
We are able to offer a range of tailored CPD courses| to industry, from part-time MScs to high level skills training in specialist software, technical career development and support towards routes to professional accreditation. A recent development in this area is the CoDate| project, offering professional development opportunities and postgraduate qualifications in the area of Advanced Composites Design.
Research & Development
Staff within the Engineering Area are able to offer short/medium term research contracts, support for external grant applications and bid development.
Short term research could include product evaluation, materials design research, feasibility studies, etc.
