An Investigation into the Shortages of Large Goods Vehicle Drivers in the UK.
The Transport Industry in the UK is suffering due to an ever-decreasing availability of human resource. The intention of this project is to investigate the perceived shortage of skilled goods vehicle drivers in the UK and to outline the reasons leading up to this situation. The project will further examine the impacts of the EU Working Time Directive which is seen to be exacerbating the problem. In order to gain a clear picture of the industries viewpoint a survey was conducted which involved transport operators and drive hire agencies. This is seen to be a snapshot in order to determine if the industry is being sufficiently proactive in addressing these issues.
