"Switched On" Bootcamp

Are you looking to set up your own business? Are you looking for some support and know how to get you started? The University of Bolton has a number of ways to help:

 

An exclusive "Switched On" Bootcamp

  • FREE 3 day
  • Tuesday 28th February - Thursday 1st March 2012
  • Including setting up your own business, legal issues, accounts, business planning, finance marketing, advertising, source of finance and pitching
  • An experienced business owner will be assigned as your mentor

Interested?  Submit an outline/draft business plan, no matter how vague your business plan idea is, to Rina Lakhman by 13th February by email to switchedon@bolton.ac.uk|

 

Due to the funding regulations for this programme, all applicants for the Switched On Bootcamp must be from the EC and be a Student at Bolton, or a graduate from any University but to be residing within the North West of England.

Mentors

A number of mentors from the business community have offered to provide individual support to help you get your business idea up and running. Through one-to-one and online meetings with your specialist mentor, you will have the opportunity to share your ideas and formulate a plan of action. You will also have access to online resources that are essential to get your business up and running. Enterprise Champions

'In the Spotlight' - 2nd May 2012

If you've completed the 'Switched On' bootcamp, you're eligible to enter 'In the Spotlight'. Here you will get the chance to pitch your business idea to a panel of industry experts including two entrepreneurs who successfully secured funding in the BBC Dragon's Den. You will be able to pitch for additional business support, mentoring from the judges and individual prizes to allow your new business every chance at success.  

 

 

Business Challenge: Think you know how to run a business? Test yourself by entering the Business Simulation Game…

 

The Business Simulation Game will be available throughout the year, and is aimed at giving you a virtual experience of running a business. You will have the opportunity to try out and learn about pricing strategies, marketing plans, business finances, production, distribution, legislation.... and many other trials and tribulations experienced when running a business. If you are interested in trying out the business game please email Ted Martin, Business Development Manager: t.martin@bolton.ac.uk|
