Most members of the Education Department are engaged in scholarly activity and research on professional issues and, additionally, there is a designated Vocational Education and Training (VET) Research Group led by Professor Terry Hyland consisting of 6members from Education and one, Ged Seacombe, from Community, Health & Social Studies.

The principal aim of the VET group is to conduct high quality research into VET at all levels with the purpose of furthering policy studies in this general field and upgrading theory and practice in professional studies. Chief areas of interest are:
