Nominations will now be judged by a panel and a shortlist will be announced on 13 April.

All shortlisted nominees will be invited to attend the awards ceremony at the Houses of Parliament on Thursday 27 April.

The University of Bolton’s pro bono Legal Advice Centre, manned by law students and supervised by qualified solicitors, was set up to fill a gap in the community and offer top-class initial legal advice for those who could not usually afford it.

At the same time, it offers invaluable real-world experience to the University’s law students.

The centre has gone from strength to strength, and the nomination reflects the work of the group of students who provided legal advice sessions within the local library network, in partnership with Bolton Library & Museum Service.

Ian Bowden, Assistant Teaching Professor and Solicitor Advocate, said: “I am delighted on behalf of the team of students involved in this project, who gave up their own time to help our local community. Fingers crossed that we will now make the final shortlist.”
