Payal Wilson

Payal Wilson is currently a part-time course tutor at the University of Bolton, teaching on both the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice and Care of the Frail Adult modules.

Payal qualified as an occupational therapist in 2001 from The University of Salford and subsequently worked within a general medical and surgical rotation before securing a static post within stroke and general rehabilitation. She was then appointed to a Band 7 post in Intermediate Care in Oldham where she worked for 10 years. During this time, she was AHP and Transfer of Care Team Lead and gained valuable strategic, leadership and operational management experience and skill.

Payal regards completing her MSc Advanced Practice in 2017 at the University of Bolton as one of her greatest achievements. It ignited her passion for promoting AHP’s within advanced practice and advocating occupational therapists within MSc Advanced Clinical Practice roles.

Currently, she works as part of the Crisis Team for Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, supporting the clinical management of acutely unwell patients within the community. The team works closely with the North West Ambulance Service and community, A&E and GPs to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions. Combining therapeutic and advanced practice core skills allows Payal to provide high-quality care to patients and reduces duplication and delays in urgent assessment.

Payal is a passionate and committed member of the University of Bolton’s Faculty of Health and Wellbeing and is proud to teach and mentor students at the university from which she graduated.
