Dr Furat Al-Faraj

Associate Professor (Reader)

Dr Furat Al-Faraj has more than thirty years of experience working in academia, and as a consultant in international consulting firms and the United Nations Agencies (FAO and UNDP). Extensive experience managing project from initiation to completion. Highly skilled in tracking details, communicating deadlines, and following‐up with internal and external partners to ensure on‐time completion within budget. Consistently receive outstanding feedback from clients and managers.

Proven ability to design and deliver training courses on integrated water resources management, dam safety and emergency preparedness and response plane, sustainable environment, research skills and professional practices, Environmental management principles and practices and environmental project management.

Programme leader of the Master by Research (MRes) in Environmental Management at the School of Engineering, University of Bolton. Have a proven track record of publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Hydrology, Water Resources Management, Water, Water Policy, Environmental Processes, Journal of Water and Climate Change, and Environmental Engineering and Management Journal. Reviewer for a number of peer-reviewed journals.

His current research interests are of integrated water resources management, environmental project management, sustainable environment, UN-SDGs, SUDs, rainfall-runoff modelling, and dam safety and emergency preparedness and response plan.

Fellow-Institute of Water (United Kingdom), member-European Water Resources Association, Member-Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE), and member-Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).
