Dave Kennedy

Technician - Dental Technology

My role is to provide support to the academic team in their teaching role, demonstrating dental techniques to our students to aid their learning processes in the laboratory.

Additionally I am active in running the dental laboratories, ordering stock for the courses, maintaining health and safety procedures.

I entered into the dental profession in 1988 at the Leeds Dental Hospital and University in which I completed a four year apprenticeship learning all aspects of dental technology in prosthetics, orthodontics, maxillofacial and fixed prosthodontics in which I obtained a BTEC Diploma in Dental Science.

I specialised in removable partial dentures, chrome metal frameworks and then progressed to working in commercial dental laboratories. My career progressed into me running my own dental laboratory for 4 years.

I have experience with Exocad, 3d printing and cad cam to produce high performance polymer frameworks as well as traditional wax up techniques from my previous job before I joined the University of Bolton in 2018.
