Course Details

The University of Bolton has a 'Teaching Intensive, Research Informed' ethos. We aspire to offer postgraduate student-focused courses that inform best practice in teaching and learning, underpinned by the research knowledge of our high-quality staff.

This contemporary and stimulating stand-alone module supports you in building the expert coaching skills needed to support the professional development of education staff and enhance the quality of teaching and learning at your institution. Our welcoming team of highly experienced, professionally and academically qualified staff will support you in reflecting on your identity as a coach and guide you as you gradually develop your coaching competencies.

With our support, you'll explore a variety of coaching models, critically analyse their impact on professional development, and then develop your own competence in coaching. We'll guide you as you plan, deliver and reflect on your own coaching sessions, which will be recorded. These sessions will support you in reflecting on your learning journey towards developing advanced coaching skills. We'll also encourage you as you formulate recommendations on how to build and enhance a coaching culture in your organisation to support the quality of teaching and learning.

Highlights
  • Our students are drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds. Sharing your peers' individual and unique educational insights and perspectives helps enrich your learning experience.
  • We promote research and critical enquiry, helping you learn to make sound, evidence-based independent judgements.
  • This course is part of a suite of professional development courses covering contemporary issues and developments in education that focus on equipping you with advanced skills and knowledge to help your career progression.
  • When you successfully complete this course, you'll be awarded an Advanced Diploma of CPD worth 30 credits at Level HE7 that can contribute towards the MEd Professional Development in Education or MA Educational Leadership degrees offered by the University of Bolton.
